Course Information
Description Explore electronic tools utilized in marketing; focus on marketing communications in developing customer relationships.
Required Textbooks Textbook Purchasing Statement: A student attending Lamar State College Port Arthur is not under any obligation to purchase a textbook from the college-affiliated bookstore. The same textbook may also be available from an independent retailer, including an online retailer.

This course is a points-based course, where 

  • 100-90 points = A
  • 80-89 points = B 
  • 70-79 points = C 
  • 60-69 points = D 
  • Below 59 points = F 
  • Extra credit option 1 = 10 points
  • Extra credit option 2 = 10 points
Determination of
Final Grade
  • Weekly Quizzes (1 point/quiz/week) = 24
  • Midterm Exam = 26 points
  • Final Exam = 50 points
  • Extra Credit = Referral program (enroll a new student for Spring 2025) = 10 points (must be enrolled by December 3). 
  • Extra Credit = Provide a testimonial video promoting Lamar State College Port Arthur and/or the Social Media and Digital Communications program for future students = 10 points

Instructor Policies

Office Hours are Tuesdays and Thursdays from 12:30 - 2:30 pm, and Wednesdays from 8:30 am - 2:30p. Additional times are available by appointment and you must book a time through this webpage. Feel free to email me at nicholsondm@lamarpa.edu at any time or call my office number ​​(409) 681-4312 and leave a voicemail. Appointments can be in person at my office (The Press Building) or via Teams. 

I highly recommend you to visit me during office hours and share your thoughts and ideas about your projects and what you are learning in class. If you foresee any barriers to completing your assignments, please raise these concerns early with me so that we can find a suitable solution if possible.


Attendance Policy Students must check Blackboard each week to stay on top of assignments. Students must submit their quizzes and exams within the timeframes indicated on Blackboard.
Additional Information Students must check Blackboard each Monday to receive the week's reading, assignments, and other course information. Even though this is an online class, it's important that students set aside three to four hours each week to read/watch the course material, review what you have learned, take the weekly quizzes, and eventually study for the mid-terms and final exams. The week before the mid-term and final exam, be sure to set aside an additional two hours to study for the exams.

COVID 19 Information The Lamar State College Port Arthur (LSCPA) Student Code of Conduct COVID 19 Policy requires students who have been diagnosed with COVID 19 to report their condition directly to their local health department. Students should also contact their course faculty to report their quarantine status. In addition, this policy requires all students to wear face coverings when directly exposed to COVID 19 in compliance with the criteria included in the policy. Facility Policies No food or tobacco products are allowed in the classroom. Only students enrolled in the course are allowed in the classroom, except by special instructor permission. Use of electronic devices is prohibited.
